TC-ISEF 2025 Submissions

Welcome!

On this page you will find all of the information you need to complete your application for Team Canada-ISEF. Applications are only open to eligible candidates who have already been notified – if you have not received an email from the Team Canada-ISEF admin team inviting you to complete this application, unfortunately, you are not eligible to proceed.

Apply in English or French

Youth Science Canada welcomes applications for Team Canada-ISEF in both official languages. Candidates may submit their materials in English or French; however, the Regeneron ISEF forms must be completed in English.

The Team Canada Selection Panel will evaluate and interview Candidates in either English or French.

As a U.S.-based competition, the official language of Intel ISEF is English. Intel ISEF organizers will provide translators during judging for students who prefer to present their project in another language; however, many Intel ISEF judges speak English only.

Important to know before you begin

  • Project requirement. The project must be completed during any continuous twelve-month period between 1 January 2024 and 1 April 2025.
  • It is a complex process. It is ESSENTIAL that you check you have completed each task for each form, and have them by your side with each form as you fill it in.
  • Acronyms (e.g., RRI for Robarts Research Institute) may NOT be used, except for the following, which are used in several places on the forms:
    • IACUC – Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
    • IRB – Institutional Review Board
    • SRC – Scientific Review Committee.
  • Common error. The most common error made is in the dates. Follow the instructions given to make sure that your forms are dated in the correct chronological order. Enter dates on the forms using one of the following unambiguous formats: 1 July 2024, or July 1 2024.
  • Getting your forms signed. All forms uploaded during your application must be signed.
  • Communicating with Youth Science Canada by email. If you have any questions throughout this process, please send YSC an email and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
    • Address: [email protected]
    • Subject: Team Canada: my question
    • Always use Team Canada as the first two words in the Subject line. Some emails from applicants are identified as spam and must be retrieved from the spam box.

Documentation – MUST READ

Please read all documents included in this folder, as they specifically pertain to your ISEF application. It is crucial that you follow the information in Form 0 when completing your application.

Forms

Use the ISEF Rules Wizard at this link to determine which forms you are required to submit as part of your application.

Note: in the Rules Wizard, you will see:

“THESE FORMS ARE NOT TO BE ELECTRONICALLY TRANSFERRED TO Society for Science. THE FORMS MUST BE COMPLETED BY THE APPROPRIATE INDIVIDUALS, SIGNED AND COPIES SUBMITTED TO your science fair for local, regional or state competition.” This text within the ISEF Rules Wizard is purely to ensure students submit their forms to Youth Science Canada, and not directly to Society for Science (who organize the ISEF event).

The following forms have been marked as required by Youth Science Canada, so even if they’re not identified by the ISEF Rules Wizard, you will notice that they are still listed under Required Forms in the TC-ISEF 2025 Application form:

  • Form 1: Checklist for Adult Sponsor
  • Form 1A: Student Checklist
  • Research Plan
  • Form 1B: Approval Form

Download the applicable ISEF forms from this folder, complete them, then upload them during your application.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is the maximum length of my project title?
    • ISEF has no rules on the length of the title, but Youth Science Canada has set a limit of 100 characters. As a guide, you may want to consider that in an effort to encourage brevity and clarity in scientific reporting, the journals Science and Nature restrict titles to 90 and 75 characters, including spaces, respectively.
  2. Will I be able to take the IB or AP exams while at ISEF?
