Team Canada-ISEF member, Haolin Li, wins 2nd place
A Toronto student and Team Canada-ISEF member, Haolin Li, won second place at the 2022 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair held in Atlanta, Georgia. Li’s project, Decoding the Underlying Neural Activity of Neurodegeneration in Traumatic Brain Injury, focused on finding a new treatment for traumatic optic neuropathy to help cells in the eyes survive post-injury. This summer, he plans to continue researching traumatic brain injuries in a U.S.-based lab. Nine Canadian youth won awards at the event, which featured young scientists from 50 to 60 countries. Li said the networking opportunities were a highlight, and he built relationships and connections that will last beyond the competition.
