About

The Canadian Black Scientists Network (https://blackscientists.ca/) is a national coalition of Black Canadians whose mission is to Elevate, Make Visible, Celebrate and Connect Black Canadians pursuing or possessing advanced degrees in STEMM across scholarly fields and career sectors. We recognize that, while Black Canadians are under-represented across all professions, this is particularly true in STEMM fields, where systemic barriers are robbing Canada of the innovative talent and diverse perspectives that are needed for innovation on a global stage.

Led by a volunteer steering committee, the CBSN is the only national, multidisciplinary network of Black Canadians in STEMM. Our vision is to increase the intake and retention of Black Youth in STEMM, increase the representation of Black Canadians as STEMM researchers and practitioners, and advocate for equitable practices in funding and awards for Black STEMM researchers.

CBSN Youth are the next generation of scientists, Black youth in grades 7-12 whose talents are being developed to lead Canada’s STEMM research and innovation efforts into the next few decades.
