1.1 The Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) is host to Canada’s national science fair championships and is not an international or open competition.
1.2 Participation in the CWSF by young scientists from other countries enriches the experience for Canadian finalists.
2 International Delegations & Invitations
2.1 International participants at a CWSF shall be invited by Youth Science Canada having been selected by Youth Science Canada-equivalent science fair organizations or national youth science organizations.
2.2 Preference for invitations shall be given to countries having reciprocal agreements with Youth Science Canada whereby Youth Science Canada-selected Canadian representatives participate in CWSF-equivalent national events.
2.3 International participation shall not restrict the function or operation of the CWSF as Canada’s national science fair championships.
- International participation shall not constrain the number of Canadian finalists beyond those restrictions established by Youth Science Canada in consultation with CWSF Host Teams.
- International participants are not eligible for Canada-Wide Science Fair awards, including medals, Special Awards, and Grand Awards. International participants will compete in a separate international award category.
2.4 International participants shall be subject to the same supervisory requirements, project and display safety regulations, and code of behaviour as Canadian CWSF finalists.
2.5 Unless otherwise specified by written agreement, international participants shall pay a registration fee established by Youth Science Canada and shall not be eligible to participate in the Youth Science Canada National Travel Plan.
2.6 A CWSF Host Team may request Youth Science Canada to extend an invitation to certain organizations; however, such invitations shall be limited to that specific CWSF. Youth Science Canada is not obliged to extend invitations to future CWSF events.
