On March 10th, 2019 the tragic plane crash in Ethiopia hit close to home for the Youth Science Canada Community. CWSF 2010 alumna Danielle Moore, 24, was on the flight, headed to the UN Environmental Assembly in Nairobi to represent Canada as a Youth Delegate.
YSC wishes to remember Danielle for the amazing work she accomplished and her significant contributions to environmental justice.
Danielle was studying Marine Biology at Dalhousie University and pursued her passion in working with Ocean Bridge & Canada Learning Code in Winnipeg. She was a strong advocate for finding sustainable solutions and for Indigenous rights. Through her student experiences, including science fair and the CWSF, Danielle learned that education was necessary to support the next generation. Following her passion, she was accepted into teacher’s college at the University of Ottawa, where she would have started in the fall of 2019.
Danielle’s parents have created a memorial fund with the goal of making the world a better place while focusing on Danielle’s passions of environmental and social issues. This fund aims at reflecting Danielle’s passions and spirit.
Danielle was a bright light in the community and in all the lives she touched. Her passion for learning was like no other and she will always make Youth Science Canada proud.
