Len Reimer BEd, MEd
Len is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors of Youth Science Canada. He has been a science teacher, a school principal and a Sessional Instructor in Science Education at the Faculty of Education, University of British Columbia. Len was on the executive of the both the 2005 and 1991 Canada-Wide Science Fair (Vancouver) Host Committees and is very active in science fair coordination.
He was the creator and first Chair of the Vancouver District Grade 7-12 Science Fair as well as the Vancouver District Science Celebration - an event that brings the learning dynamics and excitement of a science fair to the classroom and showcases selected students and their projects in a public forum. As chair of the Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair, he implemented several innovative ideas that expanded participation, especially from secondary schools and encouraged leadership among volunteers.
Len is the author of Science Celebration: A Resource Book for A Non-Competitive Approach to Science Fair Project Work (1994). Len received the Youth Science Canada Distinguished Service Award in 1996 and in 2003 received the Vancouver School District’s “VSB Recognition Award” for his science fair efforts.
