Jeff has been a faculty member in the Faculty of Agriculture at Dalhousie University (formerly NSAC) since 1986 where he has taught courses in chemistry, the environment and foods. He has done a wide range of research ranging from the health of local rivers to sulfur chemistry to organic agriculture. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of Soccer Nova Scotia and was a union negotiator for more than two decades. Presently Dr Hoyle is the Vice Chair (Academic Programs) of Dalhousie Senate.
Jeff's involvement with YSC started as a national judge in 1984 in Halifax. Along with five other he started the Chignecto West regional science fair in the late 1980's and was a delegate in both Whitehorse (1995) and North Bay (1996). In 2005 he joined the National Judging committee, was local Chief Judge at the CWSF in Truro (2007) and Toronto (2011). On behalf of YSC, he has attended the Irish National Science Fair and EUCYS. Jeff was YSC Deputy National Judge-in-Chief for 6 years and has been the YSC National Judge-in-Chief since 2016. Jeff is currently Chair of the YSC Board.
